Hartford, CT (September 20, 2013) – Severance Foods, Inc., the largest manufacturer and co-packer of tortilla chips in the Northeast, received approval from the Non-GMO Project in November, 2012 for its facility compliance with regard to segregation and traceability, while at the same time received official verification for its own product line, Pan De Oro Tortilla Chips: Red, White, & Blue, Garlic Herb, Blue Sesame, Multigrain, and White Corn.
Through this verification, Severance is encouraging its private label customers to seek verification as well. “Since our founding we have made products only for all-natural specialty foods customers, avoiding anything artificial or GMO. This verification is a reflection of that commitment,” said Brand Manager Rick Stevens. “Consumers have a right to know what they are buying and feeding their families.”
Severance Foods was established in 1984 and has been a leader in product development for the tortilla chip product category, being one of the first manufacturers to use seeds and all-natural preblends in their products. Their products are distributed nationally and internationally.
In addition to Non-GMO Verification, their facility is also Gluten Free Certified, Organic Certified, and Kosher Certified.
