Pan De Oro to Debut in Big Y Stores

HARTFORD, CT – Pan De Oro Tortilla Chips, owned and manufactured by Hartford-based tortilla chip manufacturer Severance Foods, Inc., will be making its premier appearance in Big Y World Class Market Stores beginning April, 2015. Big Y, founded in Springfield, MA in 1936, operates 61 supermarkets and is one of the largest independently owned supermarket chains in New England, employing over 8,500 people.

Snyders of Hanover, with warehouses in Orange, CT and Chicopee, MA, will distribute Pan De Oro to Big Y stores. Big Y will offer three flavors, Sweet Potato Jalapeno, Nacho Lime, and Multigrain with a 2 for $5 introductory promo for three weeks and regular price of $2.79, highly competitive when compared with the near $4 mark of other private labels. All of Pan De Oro’s products are certified gluten-free, non-gmo, and made with organic corn.

Rick Stevens, Contract Accounts Manager at Severance Foods and Brand Manager for Pan De Oro is thrilled at this opportunity. “Big Y is a well-known and well-operated family owned business. We’re very excited to work with Big Y and spread awareness of Connecticut’s own chip factory.” Mr. Stevens made clear the “Made in Hartford” moniker has been a primary point of interest at local events. “Everyone wants to support local business which is great. At every event we attend, as soon as people learn we’re made in Hartford it generates interest. We’ve been one of Hartford’s best kept-secrets for over 30 years.” Severance hopes to make the Pan De Oro brand a larger part of its business in the coming years.
